Please be aware that though exceptions to rules may arise, each exception is determined on an individual basis. If you have a question about the rules or how a rule may apply to you or your character, email(rovadmins@gmail.com) or PM RoV(admin). In order to access the application you must find the password hidden somewhere in the rules. Thank you.
»Profiles & Websites We do allow multi-character screennames though we ask that you put us somewhere in your profile. RoV is acceptable and Realm of Validon is also acceptable. Please make sure that these are linked. This may not be hidden in the profile. The link for text should be http://www.realmofvalidon.proboards.com
¤It is also asked that if you have a website for your character in RoV that you provide a link to the site. Or even a button found here: Buttons.
»Characters This cannot be stressed enough. RoV is played in the Medieval- Fantasy era. Ogres, orcs, humans, elves, etc. are allowed.
¤Not Allowed:Gods/God-like characters, DBZ, anthros, and anime.
¤At this time: Dragons and Gryphons from outside Validon are not allowed. However, Dragon-Kin or a descendant of Dragons from outside Validon, not natively born here, may be. This is decided at the discretion of the administrator.
»Character Picture
A character picture is required. Though we do not require it be a real person. You may use artwork, anime style included. This does not mean we'd accept pictures of like Goku or DBZ characters. Said anime style not anime art. There is a difference. Any picture submitted must be at least 200x200 and in color. No smaller or black/white images. It does not factor into the description part of your application. If you use a real person please supply the name of the person as well as the picture.
»IC Fighting RoV is not a dice, experience points, or rank group. Some members may choose to use dice, but we do not require them. If an IC fight between characters should ensue then it is up to the muns on how it is handled. They may, or may not, choose to use dice. Should an inter-land war or land civil war ensue then it will be handled in a manner discussed between the leaders using our Population calculator. To our knowledge, none of the members of RoV use dice and rely on a turn-based system of free-form fighting. Realism is valued over luck. If problems are then feel free to contact one of the leaders and we can aid as needed. As of yet there has not been an issue with this system and we hope it continues this way.
¤Cases of forum wide events [plague, war, etc.] dice rolls may be used to calculate casualties of npc population. If there is a specific question as to how this works, please contact one of the leaders.
»Magic & You Does RoV allow magic? Yes. Does this mean we allow indestructible, uberpowerful magical beings? No. With strength comes weakness. This is true in terms of magics- all magics. If your character is a Seer, it isn't necessarily true that they will see the perfect future. A mind reader? Some can block that. What does this mean? We will not allow any all-seeing, all-powerful being. All magic is taxing, in some form or another, and this also needs to be remembered. Please read the thread of Magic In Validon.
»Playing Unoriginal Characters We've all enjoyed books involving fantasy realms and worlds beyond our own reality. Many of us have dreamed of being Legolas, Robin Hood, Joan of Arc, Dracula, and Darth Vader. Our favorite authors inspire our creativity and spur us into using our imaginations. It isn't permitted to bring these characters into RoV. You wish to play an elf from Mirkwood? That is fine. However, you can't play Legolas. Members should create their own character, not bring in the creation of another to play. This goes for characters from all sources, lesser-known or popular. If we find out be prepared for repercussions.
»Conduct Role-Play within this group is PG-13/R in public. This includes posts on the forum's message boards. Private rooms and IMs are available for use in RP if your storyline requires game play like this. If you are being vulgar IC or OOC publicly, you will be asked to leave. RP and posts of an explicit nature are not permitted on the boards. If you're concerned that your post or RP may be in violation, ask one of the leaders prior to posting it. Violating this is grounds for having the post thread locked or edited/deleted. Notification will be sent and you will be required to speak with a leader on the matter. All may have fun and enjoy themselves. Though if you must play vulgar scenes all the time this is not the group for you. The password to the application is medieval.
»OOC Chatter OOC [Out Of Character] chatter is just fine, as long as you keep it to IMs, Email, or Private Room. Yes, it is possible to do this. Quick OOC posts into a Role-Play room are fine. Example: afk, brb, bbl, wb, and ty. OOC chatter during downtime in the play, such as all parties involved are afk, is also allowed. During the scene- it is not. If the OOC in a room becomes excessive, and you have been asked to take it to IM and do not, the creator of the room has the right to eject you from the chat.
»Leadership The Chain of Command: ¤Guides of the Forum: Tabby ¤Co-Leaders of the Forum: Tabby, Cody, & Alex ¤GM Administrator: Open & Looking ¤Advertisement Manager: Open & Looking
Certain leadership duties are expected of players who have characters in the role of an IC leader or members with seniority. The positions of leadership that are granted are public this means the leaders are watched carefully. Remember you are a role model for others, held to a higher standard, and if the power is being abused then you will be relieved of it.
»Freedom Of Play All are free to play their characters as they like outside of Validon as moving between Validon and other worlds is possible, though (with some little measure of realism) taxing upon a person. Feel free to create your own homes within the lands. You are welcome to have your character be a magistrate, baker, smithy, pirate or whatever else you wish to be upon any of the continents of Validon. Merely remember that the genre is Medieval/Fantasy and all IC actions, talk, descriptions are pre-modern.
Yes! Create your own house, mansion, or castle. Remember though, if you create such a place, you must answer to the leader of the land you choose to exist on. If you wish to have your own parcel of land or a business within one of the nations, contact the land's leader OOC for details on how this is best brought about. » Opening Rooms for RP Times for RP in the group can be random. We are all at the whim of our personal schedules. Feel free to email or IM/AIM someone from the Screen Name Roster[found on the forums under Index] and set up a playing time, discuss interaction, etc.
There are no set times of play, day or night you may play. Members are encouraged to create rooms with the 'RoV' tag on them and instant message others to play. You may even open inns so long as you provide the link to information. For example, when the Golden Unicorn is open it'd be 'RoV Golden Unicorn'. Please use the RoV tag to signify a realm room so that others may recognize it as such. Once a member please see Public Room Guidelines thread.
»Owning An Establishment If you have a character that is a proprietor of an Inn , Bar, Tavern, or Shop, it is asked that you open a public/private chat private chat with invites sent to members for interaction, every so often. If you are an AIM member in one of these roles, ask another involved with your land/business to open a public chat. You, though, are able to open the private/buddy chat. A set of guidelines has been established for public rooms Here. Please familiarize yourself with this list. We would wish for Validon to have a good reputation so please represent us well. For Private Rooms or Buddy Chats[used for AIM members], please remember that you do not only have to invite RoV Members. You may also invite friends or other members friends. Or members of allies of the group.
»Discipline Guidelines Any behavior OOC among members that attacks, harasses, inflames, bashes, or otherwise seeks to disrupt the forum will result in removal. Those that engage in any behavior like this will be removed from the forum regardless of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd offense and regardless of their character's rank, status, or affiliation. See the Discipline Guideline thread for more information.

The Application is found under the Storyline Information section. If you have any questions please feel free to contact one of the admins through email.
Once you have been accepted, you will learn that certain information is member only. Please respect that fact and do not share it otherwise. Registration is to be done by character name after you have been accepted.
It is 1248, Year of the Phoenix, and change is upon Validon. Will you be part of it?

Wishing you a safe holiday with your loved ones! Everyone has been a bit busy at this time of year. It's hectic and fun-filled, and just plain crazy. However, I promise things will be picking up with the New Year. Keep your eyes open and I look forward to seeing some more action from the all of us!
